Vergennes Police Log: Rutland woman cited for domestic assault

After being alerted to a disturbance by a neighbor, Vergennes police on Dec. 27 arrested a Rutland woman following an alleged family fight at the 45 Armory Lane apartment building.

Thanks to the generosity of another agency and its community, Vergennes police on Dec. 20 and 21 delivered toys to children at the John Graham Shelter.

Calls for service to the Vergennes police between Dec. 11 and 17 included an accident with injuries, mental health issues, a verbal family dispute, a credit card fraud case, and a request to store a sex assault kit for possible later prosecution. 

Between Dec. 4 and 10, Vergennes police helped several residents and the organization Addison Housing Works, took a complaint about aggressive dogs and mediated a family dispute related to rent.

Vergennes police twice backed up other agencies in incidents between Nov. 27 and Dec. 3. 

Vergennes police last week were twice called to deal with patients being dismissed from the for-profit Valley Vista rehab facility in Alden Place. 

Vergennes police say they are working to identify persons of interest in a series of thefts from vehicles parked on city streets committed late on the evening of Saturday, Nov. 18, and during the early-morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 19.

City police last week helped a seriously ill juvenile at the John Graham Shelter receive medical care after being asked on Nov. 6 to accompany the Vergennes Area Rescue Squad on a call. 

Vergennes police on Oct. 31 ticketed a New York driver for a two-car accident on North Main Street right outside the police station that resulted in one vehicle rolling over. 

Vergennes police on Oct. 28 cited a Burlington man for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol. 

Vergennes police dealt with if a variety of incidents between Oct. 16 and 22, including thefts of change from unlocked cars, a couple of accidents, animal problems, a noise complaint, an allegedly indecent photo and a resident with a medical issue.

Vergennes police this past weekend dealt with two serious drug-overdose cases. 

Vergennes police and Department of Homeland Security personnel are investigating a case in which a city woman was scammed out of about $81,000 by an individual police said was impersonating celebrated documentary filmmaker Ken Burns.

Vergennes and Vermont State Police worked together on three incidents on Sept. 26 involving troubled individuals, and then responded together to a third report of possible gunshots later in the week. 

Vergennes police on Sept. 19 cited a man with a Ferrisburgh address for domestic assault and two other charges stemming from a Sept. 18 incident at a Hillside Drive apartment that he was sharing with his mother.
