Auxiliary still pays dividends for hospital

The Porter Medical Center Auxiliary’s biggest annual fundraiser involves a sprint — among horses. It’s the May 6 “Derby Days” party and raffle, where attendees quaff some beverages, eat some good food and watch the Kentucky Derby, aka “The most exciting two minutes in sports.” 

Porter Medical Center has changed the name of its End of Life Services program to Palliative Support Services.

Porter is looking for volunteers to provide this support. If you have experience being a doula and are interested in volunteering, you are asked to complete a volunteer application.

Addison County residents struggling with financial and/or health issues will soon have a new source for free, fresh produce.

A support group for people dealing with grief will be hosted by the Porter Medical Center and the Palliative Care Department for seven weeks in January and February.

Two physicians from Porter Medical Center were among the healthcare professionals named this week to the Vermont Medical Society Education & Research Foundation’s 2023 cohort of the Physician Executive Leadership Institute Foundational Course.   

Wanted: Ideas on how to give marginalized groups — such as migrant farm workers — better access to health care services in Addison County.

End of Life Services at Porter Hospital will host the Moth-like storytelling event “Stories from the Heart” on Saturday, Oct. 29, from 6:30-8 p.m.

What has happened to so many fine doctors, nurses, HR directors, PR development advocates at our community hospital, Porter Medical Center? 

I had to go into Porter Hospital this morning for what we call, I believe, a routine procedure — if I say that I had spent the previous day chugging Miralax to prepare, an inquiring reader might be able to figure out the details.

The mission and volunteers of End of Life Services, a non-profit hospice care agency in Addison County, will be integrated into Porter Medical center.
