Legion nine finishes strong for playoff berth

The Addison County American Legion baseball team finished the regular season with a flourish to earn a berth in this past weekend’s state tournament at Castleton University.

The Addison County American Legion team came up short against two top Northern Division teams in four games in the past week, but came through in a must-win showdown on Monday against Franklin County.

Two-and-a-half years later, as most local Legion posts are enjoying a return to some traditional, fully in-person events, some veterans organizations are continuing programs they pivoted to during the pandemic, such as “buddy checks.”

Visiting Essex topped the Addison County American Legion team on Tuesday, 8-2, a result that doesn’t disguise the fact that a young AC team remains in contention for a playoff berth.
