Wilma Poljacik

MIDDLEBURY — Wilma Poljacik, 97, died on Tuesday, March 13, surrounded by her loving family. A service will be held for Wilma on Saturday, March 17, from 11-12 p.m. at Miller Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon. A full obituary will be published in a later edition of the Addison Independent.

BEVERLY WHITE

BRISTOL — Beverly Catherine (Bessette) White, 83, died on Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018 at Porter Medical Center. She was born on Aug. 1, 1934, in Shelburne, Vt. to Guy and Freda (Pollard) Bessette.

On March 12, 1955, she married Richard Arthur White and they resided in Hinesburg up until Richard’s passing in 2000.

Beverly then moved to Bristol to be closer to her children and their families. She later met Charles Lawyer and he became her companion for the next 14 years until his passing in 2016.

GORDON J. RAHR

OLD SAYBROOK, Conn. — David G. Rahr died peacefully on March 9, 2018. He was 79.

Mr. Rahr was born in 1938 to Gordon J. Rahr and Virginia (Crary) Rahr in Oak Park, Ill. and was raised in nearby River Forest. He graduated from Oak Park-River Forest High School and matriculated at Princeton University in 1956. As an undergraduate, he was active in a variety of extra-curricular activities including serving as Director of the Princeton Summer Camp (now the Princeton-Blairstown Center) of which he was a Life Trustee.

JUDITH ANN MURRAY

BRISTOL — Judith Ann Murray, 83, passed away on March 7, 2018, at Mountain View Center after complications from a fall. Judy was born January 20, 1935 in Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of Holton Rogers and Priscilla Jones.

LAVINA (BINA) KIMBALL

NEW HAVEN – Lavina (Bina) Kimball, 86, of New Haven, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, March 9, 2018.

Bina was born on January 3, 1932, in Ferrisburgh, Vt., one of nine children, to the late Leo and Grace (Higbee) Steady.

She graduated from Beeman Academy in 1950 and that fall married the love of her life, Chester Kimball. They were married 61 wonderful years until Chet passed away in 2011.

ELEANOR IMLACH

BARRE — Eleanor Imlach, age 97, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 6, 2018, in Middlebury, Vt. Eleanor was born on April 26, 1921. She graduated from Spaulding High School in 1939, and from the Heaton School of Nursing in 1942.

GERTRUDE “TRUDY” COOK

PANTON Vt./GRANVILLE N.Y. — Gertrude “Trudy” Cook, 94, died at home on March 9, 2018. Gertrude was born in New Britain, Conn., on June 26, 1923, to William & Edith (Griffin) Miller.

Surviving her are sister Edith Kneeshaw and nieces Rebekah and Rhiannon Condon, and Edith Budaj all of Panton, VT. She also leaves four step-children; Mike Cook, Jenny Wilday, Mark Cook and Mary Gebo.

Gertrude was married to Roy Cook in 1966 and they lived in Granville N.Y. until Roy predeceased her in 2012. Also predeceasing her was a step-son Lance.

ALFRED J. CHAMBERLAIN

MORIAH N.Y. — Alfred J. Chamberlain Jr., 67, passed away at home on Jan. 11, 2018, after a long illness with Multiple Sclerosis 
He was born on July 19, 1950, in Burlington Vt.
Alfred was a lifelong car guy. You may have seen us in our red 1977 Corvette cruisin’ around.
He is formally from Ferrisburgh Vt. and moved to Moriah with his family in 1990.

Alfred Edson, 77, Cornwall

CORNWALL — Alfred Roy Edson, 77, died Friday morning, March 2, 2018, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

He was born January 16, 1941, in Addison, the son of Roy and Rose (Laplante) Edson.

Al was a graduate of Vergennes Union High School class of 1960. He married Nancy LaFountain on November 7, 1964.

George Wendel, 67, Bristol

BRISTOL — George Wendel, 67, of Bristol passed away peacefully February 20 with his sons and close family around him.

George was born August 23, 1950, the oldest son of the late Harland and Joanne Wendel. George graduated from Mount Abraham Union High School in 1969 then went to work at Standard Register where he worked for many years as Plant Manager. George also worked at IBM and then retired from Autumn Harp.

George married his high school sweetheart Judy Wendel in 1971; they were married for 43 years. Judy predeceased him in 2014.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
