SUE SAUL

MIDDLEBURY — Sue (Williams) Saul, 89, passed away peacefully at Porter Hospital in the Estuary Room on Jan. 23, 2017. Sue was surrounded by caring nurses, staff and friends during the past week.

Sue was born Jan. 30, 1927, the daughter of Robert J. Jr. and Katharine F. (Grau) Williams.

MIDDLEBURY — Bartley Bonfield Nourse, Sr., 91, of Middlebury, passed away peacefully of natural causes on Jan. 25, 2017. He was born May 12, 1925, in Worcester, MA, the son of James Percival Nourse and Mary Priestley (Bartley) Nourse.

MIDDLEBURY — Bartley Bonfield Nourse Sr., 91, of Middlebury, died peacefully at home of natural causes on Jan. 25, 2017. A full obituary will appear in Monday’s Addison Independent. More details will appear on Sanderson Funeral Home website.

ERMA LOWD

NEW HAVEN — Erma J. Lowd, 81, passed away Monday, Jan. 16, 2017, at the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington.

She was born Aug. 6, 1935 in Greenfield, Mass. to Frederick and Hannah (Landstrom) Burrington. Erma spent her childhood growing up on the family farm in Heath, Mass.

Upon graduating from high school, Erma attended the Franklin County Public Hospital School of Nursing, where she graduated in 1956 as a Registered Nurse. While there, she married Frederick Lowd, Sr. on Feb. 25, 1956 in South Easton, Mass.

MARIE JOHNSON

STAMFORD, N.Y. — Marie Anna Carl “Peanut” Johnson was born June 7, 1934 in Bristol, Vt. and passed away on Jan. 21, 2017 at Robinson Terrace in Stamford, N.Y., her home of 17 years. Marie was well known and will be remembered for her sense of humor, her love of music and singing, her love of animals and her compassionate care both as a nurse and an X-ray technician.

ROBERT WEEKS FULLER

VERGENNES— Robert Weeks Fuller, University of Vermont Emeritus Professor and well-known Wildlife Biologist, passed away on Friday, January 20, 2017. He was born May 12, 1924, in Center Conway, N.H., the son of Mildred Ellen Weeks and John Isaiah Fuller.

Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army Air Force in 1942, and was awarded his pilot’s wings and a lieutenant’s commission. He served as pilot instructor in single engine aircraft and later as a pilot of a B-17 bomber.

WILLIAM ‘BILL’ HOWE WARREN

CONCORD, Mass. — William “Bill” Howe Warren, 92, passed away on Dec. 8, 2016, in Concord, Mass., surrounded by his loving family. The cause of death was complications of pancreatic cancer, diagnosed a month after his wife Kerrin died in late August 2016. They were devoted to each other through 69 years of marriage.

KEVIN JAMES ‘CUBBY’ BOISE

MONKTON— Kevin James (Cubby) Boise passed away on Jan. 18, 2017 with his loving family close by. He was born Jan. 10, 1956 to Louis and Irene (Bolduc) Boise.

He graduated from Mount Abraham Union High School class of 1974. After high school he pursued his “need for speed” by buying and working on motorcycles, snowmobiles, cars and most recently jet skis. He always took pride in his work, which showed by the trike that he built. To know Cubby was to love him.

EDWARD ALEXANDER 'SANDY' MARTIN

MIDDLEBURY — We have all lost a kind, intelligent, gentle and compassionate soul. On January 12th, 2017, exactly five months before he would have turned 90, Edward Alexander Martin – Sandy to all – has peacefully gone on to whatever comes next. A loving husband, father and loyal friend. Sandy was a gardener, scholar and intellectual, beekeeper, writer, fisherman, hand mower and a superb listener with a wry sense of humor.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
