PAUL ADAMS

MIDDLEBURY — Paul Raymond Adams, 96, passed awayFriday, Oct. 7, 2016, at East View Terrace in Middlebury.

He was born Nov. 23, 1919, in Clarenceville, Quebec, the son of Harold and Corintha (Ferland) Adams.

DAVID BODETTE

SHALLOTTE, N.C. — David Jon Bodette passed away peacefully at home, Friday, Sept. 30, 2016, surrounded by family and love.

David was born on May 5, 1960 in Middlebury, Vt. He was the son of Raymond “Bud” Bodette, Jr. and Alice (Tucker) Bodette and grew up in Addison.

He graduated from Vergennes Union High School in 1978, and enjoyed working on the family farm alongside his father and brothers. He then began a long career as a Plant Manager with Blue Seal Feeds before relocating to North Carolina in 2012, where he was in the insurance business.

CAROLINE “KERRIN” WARREN

NEW HAVEN, Vt. — Caroline “Kerrin” Warren, 92, a native Vermonter and former resident of New Haven, passed away peacefully on Aug. 28, 2016,in Concord, Mass. She lived at Rivercrest, the skilled nursing facility of Newbury Court, a retirement community to which she and her husband moved in 2009. The cause of death was complications of pneumonia and several chronic conditions.

ANDRE SPENARD

GRESHAM, Ore. / MIDDLEBURY, Vt. — Andre P. Spenard, 65, of Gresham, Ore., passed away on Sept. 17, 2016. He was born in Colchester, Vt. on Aug. 29, 1951. He attended Middlebury Union High School. He worked in home construction prior to becoming a Real Estate Appraiser/Investor. He enjoyed many outdoor activities such as skiing, camping, golf, travel and spending time with friends and family (including the family dogs).

ELIZABETH MYERS

VERGENNES— Elizabeth Ann Myers, age 83, of Vergennes, passed away on Oct. 1, 2016, at Vergennes residential care. She was born in Middlebury on Oct. 13, 1932, the daughter of Charles H. and Ruth (Dugan) LeBeau.

Betty worked at Simmons Precision and The Weeks school. She was a lifelong member of Saint Peters Catholic Church. She loved playing Bingo and golf.

ELIZABETH GINSBURG

BRISTOL — Elizabeth Ginsburg, 76, artist, teacher, and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 29, 2016, in Bristol. She was a painter, sculptor and for many years an instructor of modern dance at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, N.H.

VERGENNES — Ernest P. Ciociola of Vergennes, formerly of New Haven, Conn., passed away at home Oct. 2, 2016.

He was the husband of the late Adrienne C. Martino Ciociola; father of Mark A. (Kathy), Allen E. (Arlene) and the late Ernest M. Ciociola; brother of Mary Conte, Dominic Ciociola and the late Madelyn Mariano; grandfather of Michael Ciociola, William, Brian and Chris Clark; great-grandfather of Adam, Acadia, Will, Casey and Nathan.

ASHLEY BOYD

MIDDLEBURY — Ashley Sessions Boyd, age 30, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016, at her home in Middlebury.

Ms. Boyd was born in Middlebury on June 2, 1986. She was the daughter of Holly Nunn and Donald Gebo, Jr. She grew up in Middlebury, where she received her early education and graduated from Mount Abraham High School in Bristol, class of 2004. Afterward she attended Franklin Pierce College.

MARY BOWLBY

MIDDLEBURY — Mary Aline Bowlby, 93, completed her time on earth Aug. 27, 2016, at Helen Porter Health Care in Middlebury.

Mary Aline Bowlby was born in Arkansas. Her family consisted of William and Lavada (King) Parsley and their eight children, including Mary, the youngest member.

While in high school, Mary became known for her basketball skills and was invited by a semi-pro girl’s team to travel with them. She was not able to join them but in later years found joy in grandchildren and great-grandchildren and their sports.

MARJORIE STEPHENSON

MIDDLEBURY — Marjorie A. Stephenson, 88, of Middlebury passed away on Sept., 23, 2016. She was born in Bennington, Vt. to Walter and Mae (Gaudette) Wright on January, 21, 1928.

Marjorie received her bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Vermont. She worked as a substitute teacher at Mary Hogan Elementary School.

Submitting an obituary

The Addison Independent publishes paid obituaries and free notices of passing. Paid obituaries cost 25-cents per word, and $10 per photo. The obituary will publish as it is submitted on the date of the family’s choosing.

For those who do not wish to purchase an obituary, the Addison Independent offers anyone with a local connection the opportunity to publish a notice of passing. These notices may be up to 100 words and are subject to editing by our news department.

Submissions must be received by 11 a.m. on Wednesday for publication in the Thursday paper and 11 a.m. on Friday for Monday’s paper.

Generally, obituaries follow this form:
TOWN — Name, age, of town, died on date, of cause of death. He/She was born on date in town, the son/daughter of father's name and mother's name, including maiden name in parentheses.

Then include a paragraph or two about where the person went to school and what they did for work; where they lived, who they married and when.

Add a sentence or two about what made the person special to family and friends, including hobbies, avocations or other telling details about their life.

He/She is survived by spouse's name; children named individually (and their spouses and towns of residence, if appropriate); siblings named individually; number of grandchildren, parents or other immediate family members.

He/She was predeceased by names of immediate family members.

A memorial service will be held (fill in details of date, time, and place, plus officiate if applicable) with interment at (place). Memorial contributions may be made to (name and complete address, if applicable).
