Taxi driver innocent of restraint charges

A jury found a Ferrisburgh man innocent of charges that he illegally restrained six young women when he was driving a taxi in which they were passengers.

Vergennes police are looking into the Sunday afternoon theft of a Buick Encore from Champlain Farms. They have a photo of the suspect.

A two-vehicle crash on Route 22A just north of Town Line Road in Addison on April 15 netted a drugged driving charge for a Vergennes driver.

Middlebury police and Middlebury Regional EMS this past week responded to multiple reports of people dealing with mental health issues.

Despite the heavy traffic during the day of the eclipse, Vergennes police reported only two minor vehicle accidents within city limits on April 8, and only one on Main Street, which is also Route 22A through the middle of the city. 

A Middlebury man was killed Saturday afternoon when the car he was driving left a rain-slickened road in Weybridge and struck a tree.

Middlebury police responded to reports of a “large college party” at the intersection of Foote Street and Route 7 South at around 1 a.m. on Sunday, April 14. Police said they received reports of “dozens” of students standing in the roadway. 

Bristol police on April 12 received a ring found at the town green on West Street. The owner can retrieve the ring at the Bristol Police Department.

This past Sunday, April 7, Vermont State Police responded to a disturbance on States Prison Hollow Road in Starksboro at around 9:20 a.m. Trooper investigated and said they determined that Chase Gibbs-Emilo, 25, of Starksboro assaulted a family member. 

Middlebury police cited Beau A. Lyons, 42, of Middlebury following their investigation of an alleged domestic disturbance in the Kings Row area on April 2.

Robert E. Bowdish, 77, of Weybridge pleaded innocent on Monday to seven felony and two misdemeanor counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, the Vermont Attorney General’s Office announced. He was arraigned in Addison Superior Court, Criminal D … (read more)

According to court records, police arrested Santiago on Jan. 5, 2022, after he had set fire to a vehicle at 40 Booth Woods in Vergennes at around 5 that morning.
