Middlebury Police Log: Police look into recent burglaries

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police probed two reported burglaries on April 6.

The first incident involved the theft of a chainsaw at Happy Valley Orchards on Quarry Road. In the second case, police said someone forced their way into the offices of Vermont Natural Ag Products off Lower Foote Street, where the culprit(s) stole an unspecified amount of cash.

Anyone with information on these cases is asked to call Middlebury police at 388-3191.

Vergennes Police Log: Police deal with a variety of incidents

VERGENNES — Vergennes police between April 3 and 9 among other incidents calmed arguments, responded to an assault complaint, handled car accidents, dealt with neighbor disputes involving pets, and made one arrest on an outstanding warrant at a traffic stop.

In those seven days, Vergennes police:

•  On April 3 looked for a man that a Main Street resident thought might be just posing as a Jehovah’s Witness; police could not find him.

Vermont State Police Log: Troopers busy with DUI, crashes

ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police stopped a vehicle on Route 7 in Ferrisburgh on April 2 at 6:17 p.m. after observing multiple traffic violations.

Trooper Brett Flansburg reports that he observed signs of impairment in the driver, identified as 22-year-old Cory Benoit of Burlington, so the officer screened Benoit for drunkenness. Benoit submitted to a preliminary breath test, which showed his blood alcohol content was 0.165 percent; the legal limit for driving is 0.08.

Middlebury Police Log: Wine-bottle vandalism among police cases

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police were informed that on March 27 someone had thrown a wine bottle through a window at the Tinker and Smithy Game Store, which had recently moved onto Main Street.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Assisted a North Forty Lane resident who said she had been insulted by a man on March 27.

•  Investigated a report of a child who had been left unattended in a vehicle parked in front of the Hannaford Supermarket on March 27.

Vergennes Police Log: Homeless man cited for vandalism

VERGENNES — After dealing with a series of complaints about the man earlier last week, Vergennes police on March 30 cited Jacob McDowell, 26, who they described as homeless, for unlawful mischief for allegedly slashing tires on three vehicles in the city.

Bristol Police Log: Cops spot driver with suspended license

BRISTOL — On March 17, Bristol police arrested Alara Bourgeois, 23, of Bristol and cited her for driving with a criminally suspended driver’s license.

At around 5 p.m., an officer saw Bourgeois driving on East Street, recognized her and knew that her license was under suspension. Additionally, Bourgeois’s vehicle had no front plate and displayed a rear registration plate that did not belong on the vehicle.

Middlebury Police Log: School bus stolen from Middlebury found in Rutland

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury police received a report that a small school bus had been taken from the Earth Waste and Metal headquarters on Route 7 South on March 20.

Police said they received word on March 23 that the bus had been located, undamaged, in Rutland.

In other action last week, Middlebury police:

•  Seized marijuana and drug paraphernalia from a Buttolph Drive resident’s apartment on March 21. Police said the resident received a civil violation.

Vergennes Police Log: Police in Vergennes make two drug-related arrests

VERGENNES — Vergennes police made one arrest and issued one drug citation last week based on tips.

On March 20 they arrested a Vergennes man on outstanding warrants from Burlington. Police on that Monday went to Riverside Apartments on Main Street based on information they received from a relative of James Porcaro, 29, and took him into custody. Police lodged Porcaro at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Facility.

Vermont State Police Log: Suspicious vehicle at seasonal camp leads to drug citation

ADDISON COUNTY — On March 17 at around 8 p.m. Vermont State Police officers went to a seasonal camp on Fox Lane in Leicester in response to a report from the owner, who told police that there was a vehicle in the driveway and no one was supposed to be at the camp.
