Shoreham man sentenced to 80-month prison term

A former long-term Middlebury College information technology specialist was sentenced on Feb. 22 to almost seven years in federal prison for receipt of child pornography in a sophisticated and significant child sexual abuse material case.

Vergennes police are evaluating whether a man they found wandering through the Auto Creek parking lot on Sunday and looking into cars might have stolen something. An investigation is ongoing, they said. 

A Middlebury woman and a Middlebury man in a stolen car on Monday night led Vermont State Police on a wild chase in which they swapped positions as driver and passenger while the car was in motion.

Bristol police on Feb. 8 arrested Brian Dodds, 37, of Bristol on an outstanding warrant and violation of conditions of release. Dodds was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Facility.

Middlebury police cited Richard J. Murray, 57, of Middlebury for driving under the influence, third offense, following a traffic stop on Weybridge Street on Feb. 15.

Vergennes police on Feb. 8 cited a Shoreham resident for driving under the influence of alcohol, or DUI, after receiving a parking complaint from the Champlain Farms convenience store on Main Street.

A Ripton man was killed in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of East Street and Market Road in Bridport on Feb. 6, according to Vermont State Police.

Middlebury police documented a swastika hate symbol that had been drawn on the wall at the Ilsley Public Library on Feb. 6. Then it was removed from the building.

Addison County State’s Attorney Eva Vekos on Monday pleaded not guilty in court to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence.

Vergennes police handled two complaints about fraud on Jan. 30, one of which they referred to Vermont State Police.

Vermont State Police dealt with several motor vehicle crashes and handed out several citations for driving under the influence (DUI) during the past week.

Middlebury police cited Amanda Rogers-Wilson, 29, of Middlebury for second-degree aggravated domestic assault, and a domestic offense committed within the presence of a child, at a Court Street residence on Jan. 31.
