Owl Head lookout is a true gem in any season, but especially in fall. Moderate hike of 5.2 miles round trip and 1300 feet elevation gain. Easy climb for the first mile to a crossing of Slide Brook, after which there is a steady but never steep climb with views of interesting small cliffs.  The trail reaches a ridge at 2.5 miles, where there’s a short, steep, 0.1 mile spur trail to the lookout where there are open views in almost all directions. A rain date of Sunday 10/4 will be available if the weather on the 3rd is not good.
