The unfortunate situation with the EB-5 program presents an opportunity to reflect on the State’s approach to economic development. Among other responsibilities, the State Auditor’s office examines various programs to determine whether they achieve the goals established by the legislature. That is, are we getting our money’s worth?

Hello from Team Apex, a part of Mount Abraham Union High Schools 8th grade. Right now our main unit is on ecology and the environment. We are focusing mainly on the importance of biodiversity. Biodiversity is important because when you kill off one species in an environment, other species will die as well.

In boys' lacrosse: MUHS and VUHS both notch wins

ADDISON COUNTY — In local high school boys’ lacrosse action late last week, Middlebury and Vergennes posted wins, while Mount Abraham and Otter Valley came up short vs. Division I competition.

The Vermont Principals’ Association was set to release playoff pairings on Monday morning.

MUHS boys' tennis blanks Mount Anthony before facing St. J.

MIDDLEBURY — In the high school boys’ tennis playoffs, the second-seeded Middlebury Union High School team cruised to a first-round win over visiting No. 15 Mount Anthony on Thursday, 7-0. The Tigers improved to 10-0, while MAU finished at 6-10.

The Tigers faced a tougher quarterfinal on Saturday from visiting No. 7 St. Johnsbury (10-3), which blanked No. 10 U-32, 7-0, and played a challenging schedule this spring. Indeed, St. J. beat Middlebury, 5-2.

Tiger girls' lax tops Rutland, 16-7, but fall to Mt. Mansfield

RUTLAND — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ lacrosse team coasted past host Rutland on Thursday, 16-7, and then fell in a key game at first-place Mount Mansfield on Friday.

The Tigers improved to 12-2 with Thursday’s victory and moved into second place in Division I. They were hoping to avenge an earlier home loss to the 13-2 Cougars, but Mount Mansfield won, 11-5.

The loss to Mount Mansfield would almost certainly have dropped the Tigers down to No. 4 in the playoffs..
