HEATHER JOY (HAMILTON) ROBINSON

MIDDLEBURY — Heather Joy (Hamilton) Robinson died peacefully at Eastview in Middlebury, Vt., on Aug. 26, 2023, with her family by her side. Heather was born in Evanston, Ill., to Helen (Olson) and Alexander Hamilton on Sept. 2, 1935.

She excelled as a student at both New Trier High School in Winnetka, Ill., and Middlebury College, where she met her husband, Charles. She was a member of Pi Beta Phi society and was honored for her work on student government protocols. Survivors include husband Charles, daughter Robbie Corriss, grandsons Justin and Ethan Corriss, and sons-in-law David Corriss and Kirk Schellinger.

While living 50 years in the Monadnock region of New Hampshire, she founded and taught in the Hancock pre-school program, worked as a licensed insurance agent, and was active in town affairs.

In 1972, when Charles took a two-year contract with the World Rehabilitation Fund to work with civilian war victims in Vietnam, Heather moved with their three young children to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. While it allowed for occasional visits, it also required Heather to learn and manage all aspects of living on the local economy.

That experience strengthened her love of travel. Heather arranged home exchanges for the next 30 years; included were 25 visits to Europe and Africa as well as several U.S. states.

Burial will be in the Ludlow, Vt., cemetery with her two predeceased children, Martie Schellinger and David Robinson. Services to be determined. Donations in Heather’s honor and memory may be made to the Addison County Home Health and Hospice, and Eastview at Middlebury.
