Vergennes tax rate rises

Pointing to what they called years of underfunding of city services and investment in infrastructure as well as inflation, Vergennes City Council members on Tuesday unanimously approved a major hike — 15 cents, or around 16% — in the municipal portion of the city’s tax rate for Fiscal Year 2024, which begins July 1.
