BRISTOL — Linda Sue Unger of Bristol, Vt., passed away peacefully at the McClure Miller Respite House on June 13, 2021. She was surrounded by her closest family members.

Born on Aug. 12, 1950, in St. Johnsbury, Vt., to Frank and Donna Robinson, Linda spent her formative years in Pittsford, Vt. She was well known in her community as a dedicated schoolteacher and frequent visitor to many local libraries. She loved books and enjoyed reading, especially with her students and grandchildren.

Linda loved going to Maine every summer and her family looks forward to celebrating her life there. She had a naturally generous and caring personality through which she emanated joy and love. Her spirit will live on in that way.

Linda is survived by her husband of 48 years, Gary Unger, who reminded her every day that she is the love of his life; her sister Melody Robinson of Pittsford, Vt.; brother Doug Robinson and his wife Bonnie, of Brandon, Vt.; daughter Lauren Gilhooly and her husband Liam of Milton, Vt.; daughter Katy Unger and her partner Jeremy of Bozeman, Mont.; son Travis Unger and his wife Jenna of Starksboro, Vt.; and five grandchildren, Bianca, Stella, Eva, Ryder, and Leland.

Linda’s family wishes to thank all the medical professionals and caregivers at both the UVM Medical Center and McClure Miller Respite House for their dedicated work and compassionate support during her brief, undiagnosed illness. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to the Starksboro or Bristol Public Libraries in support of children’s books and programs. There will be a celebration of life for Linda later this summer.◊
