MIDDLEBURY — Marie Edna Law passed away at the age of 89 on Tuesday, June 1, 2021, of natural causes. She was cared for with gentle kindness by her family and the staff at Shard Villa in Salisbury, Vt.

She was the daughter of Conrad and Leila Kern and the sister of Carl Kern and Helen Gregory Sprague, who predeceased her. She grew up in Saranac Lake, N.Y., and was married to Raymond Law. They were blessed with 59 years of marriage and raised their family in Middlebury, Vt., and New Hartford, N.Y. Through the years, they found their way back to Vermont. Raymond passed away in 2010.

She is survived by her devoted children Sally and Henry Forgues, Michael and Betty Law, Conrad and Knyoca Law, and Karen and Andrew Herrmann. She was blessed with many grandchildren who loved her deeply: Travis and Amy Forgues, Sarah and David Tanner, Abigail and Steven Alberico, Caitlin and Sean Merritt, Stephanie and Robert Talamo, Ashley Law and fiancé Julie Medler, Sam Herrmann and fiancé Jess Davi, and Nathan Herrmann. She also leaves nine great grandchildren who brought her much joy: Emma, Gabriel and Molly Forgues; Henry and John Tanner, Macaffrey and Anna Alberico; and Anthony and Brooke Talamo.

Marie was also predeceased by her sister-in-law and best friend Emma Berghorn. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews of the Kern and Law families in the Saranac Lake region. Her family is the legacy that was most important in her life. We will miss her quiet gentle way and she will forever remain in our hearts.

The family takes great comfort knowing she was in the care of her nephew Stephen from Stephen Gregory and Sons Cremation Services in Williston, Vt. A graveside burial took place on Tuesday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at St Bernard’s Cemetery in Saranac Lake, N.Y.
