James Wesley DeMilt, 63, of Lincoln
LINCOLN — James Wesley DeMilt, 63, of Lincoln, Vt., was born in Islip, N.Y., on Oct. 19, 1957. With his wife by his side, Jim passed away on the morning of Jan. 25, 2021, after a long struggle with leukemia.
Jim was passionate and knowledgeable about wildlife. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening. He raised deer, beef cows, and always kept his ponds filled with trout. He enjoyed trips to the beach. His favorite destination was Siesta Key with his wife. Jim had the gift of gab, always making everyone laugh, and was the expert of all things.
Jim was predeceased by his father, Robert Pechie. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Lisa DeMilt; his daughters Amanda DeMilt, Kathryn Kayhart, and Kelly Kayhart; his grandsons Gavin Graves and Sawyer Lasell; his mother, Lynn Rencin Pechie; his sister Rene Pechie and her partner Winston Farr; his sister Sherriane (Sissy) Hartman and her husband Steve Hartman; and his brother Robert (Bobby) Pechie and his wife Karen Pechie.
There will be no funeral services. The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the staff at UVM Medical Center. During Jim’s battle with leukemia, the staff at UVMMC not only provided medical care, but moral, loving support to Jim, Lisa and family. The staff truly became family, as they treated their time with Jim as more than just a job to do. The family is eternally grateful for the compassion and love they received through this difficult time.
