Monkton news for Dec. 31
MONKTON — Despite restrictions, the Monkton Scouts, Troops 525 and 802 and Pack 525, were still able to make their yearly delivery of baskets. This time deliveries were done by families instead of groups. Thanks to many donations from businesses and families the gift baskets were overflowing! A big thanks to Sylvia Twenge for her work in gathering donations. Also, thanks to the Parker family for assembling the baskets and to all the families for picking up and delivering a little Christmas spirit.
Troop 525 sends a big “Thank You” to the community for supporting their annual Christmas tree and wreath sales! If you have a youngster who may be interested in joining the Scouts, contact Scoutmaster Troop 525 George Parker or Scoutmaster 802 Karen Parker at 453-5282.
The New Year is here. Happy New Year! As you know that means the auditors will be working on the 2020 Town Report. All committee members responsible for submitting a yearly report, please do so by Jan. 15. It is important to get your report in on time so the auditors can get the Town Report to the printers as soon as possible. Please write your report in size 12 font using Times Roman if you have it. Also please put a title at the top of your report. You may leave a hard copy at the Town Hall in the lockbox to the right of the door or knock on the door if during office hours and someone will take it. You may also email it to the Town Clerk at [email protected]. Either way you choose to send, make a note that it is for the Town Report. The auditors thank you in advance for your promptness and cooperation.
UPDATE
Monkton’s Little Free Pantry will continue to be available with the following changes for the winter or until further notice. Insulated coolers will be placed on the front porch of the church every Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., weather permitting. You may pick up what you need or drop off items at that time. Folks can still call 453-3020 in between if they need food at other times. The church wishes to thank all who have contributed and hopes to continue helping those in need during these trying times. Stay safe and well.
NOTE
If you are interested in applying for any town office positions, contact one of your selectboard members or the Monkton Town Clerk for information on what openings are available.
