Marvin Werdna Jones, 95, of Brandon
BRANDON — Marvin Werdna Jones, age 95, passed away peacefully on Dec. 9, 2020, at the home of his son, in Oxford, Mich.
Mr. Jones was born in Rochester, Vt., on March 19, 1925. He was the son of Werdna and Jessie (Carey) Jones. He grew up on West Hill in Rochester, where he received his early education. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Army, and was involved in the battle of Central Europe. Following his honorable discharge, he returned home, and began his working career as a woodworker. He was employed by Brown’s Novelty in East Middlebury for more than 60 years. He was a resident of East Middlebury from 1953 until 2015. He belonged to American legion Post 55.
He is survived by his son, David Jones of Oxford, Mich., with whom he had made his home, and Robert White of Estero, Fla.; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and several nieces; nephews and cousins also survive him. He was predeceased by his wife, Achsah (Swinington) Jones in 1989. Six siblings also predeceased him.
A private graveside committal service and burial, with military honors, will take place at a later date in the family lot at Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.
Memorial gifts in lieu of flowers may be made, in his memory to the American Cancer Society, 55 Day Lane, Williston, VT 05495.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon, Vt.◊
