Monkton news for Nov. 26
MONKTON — The Russell Memorial Library has a change in hours on Thursdays after Thanksgiving. The library will of course be closed on Nov. 26, Thanksgiving day. It will be open on Saturday, Nov. 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. as usual. The library schedule for porch pickup will now be Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You may call the library with book requests, email them or use the online catalog to place a hold on books of your choice. Call 453-4471 for more information.
Sadly, the East Monkton Church Association has decided not to hold the annual “Celebration of Christmas” due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This was their largest fundraiser in the past and its cancellation will be a significant loss in meeting their yearly expenses. In hoping to defray those expenses, the Association will be selling holiday note cards in the coming weeks. Each card will feature a photograph taken of a past “Celebration of Christmas.” The designs will have one of four photos including the front of the church in early evening before the event, the front doors of the church decorated with greenery swag on the railing, a nativity scene displayed in the church entry and a candle in the window. More details about the holiday note cards will follow in the next few weeks.
