DONALD N. FONSECA

MIDDLEBURY — Donald N. Fonseca, 61, passed away at UVM Medical Center, Nov. 5, 2020, after a brief illness. He was born on April 24, 1959, in Brunswick, Maine, to Robert and June (Love) Fonseca.
Don graduated from Essex High School. Through his high school years he was always very active in baseball and basketball. After high school he attended Castleton State College. He then went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force. Don left the military after six years with the rank of Sergeant. His next adventure took him to Middlebury, where he owned and operated Mountain Fresh Laundromat. His last adventure was driving a school bus, which was a delight for him as he always loved little children
Some of his favorite things throughout his life were bowling and he was an avid fisherman (his license plate read wet a line). Sports in general were his passion — playing ball or fishing with his partner’s children and grandchildren always brightened his day.
He was enthusiastic about Halloween and Christmas. His passion was decorating for the holidays — always to the extreme. Don enjoyed shopping for Christmas gifts, always made you feel that he put so much thought into every gift. Those memories will live on in our hearts
Don leaves behind to cherish his memories his partner in best friend Pat (Jeanne) Maheu of Middlebury; her children Lisa Quesnel of New Jersey, and Michael, Justin and Matt of Virginia; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his father Robert Fonseca and wife Linda of Essex Junction and her children, Robert and Ann of Virginia, Timothy and Lynn Curran of Maine, and grandchildren; a brother Bobby Fonseca of Colchester; his daughter Elizabeth of Colchester and son Jake of Georgia; brother-in-law David Thibault of Colchester; Justin, Amanda Thibault (Roger Collins) and Paul Dartt of Pa. Also sharing the loss is a cousin Jennifer in Massachusetts and his aunts in Canada, Bette and Sharon.
He is preceded in death by his Mother June (Love) Fonseca and sister Joann Thibault and his grandparents on both sides of the family. We mustn’t forget his very faithful dog Zeke.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to your local food shelves. Thank you in advance for your thoughtfulness.
Due to the pandemic graveside services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
