Virginia Kent (Witherell) Carpenter, 79, Shoreham native
BETHEL — Virginia Kent (Witherell) Carpenter, 79, passed Sept. 9, 2020, after putting up a good fight with several health issues for a number of years.
Virginia (Ginny) Kent (Witherell) Carpenter was born March 30, 1941, in Rutland, VT to Helen Myrtie (Kent) Witherell and Sanford Stowell Witherell Sr. After school and a brief time in Boston (of which she always spokefondly) she came back to Vermont and met her future husband John E. Carpenter Sr. They married July 3, 1976.
The next year they had their only child, Susan Amy Carpenter. She then became a full time mother. Virginia spent many hours reading, canning/pickling/putting food by and knitting. She had a great love of Vermont, animals in nature, flowers, reading, church, classical music, history, being in nature, dinners out, rides on Vermont roads, her pets and maple creemees.
She is predeceased by her parents, Helen K. Witherell and Sanford Witherell Sr., and her husband John Carpenter.
She is survived by a daughter, Susan Carpenter, of Bethel who was her devoted caregiver, and her brother, Sanford Witherell Jr., of Shoreham.
There will be no public services at this time.
