Ronald Duane LaFave, 72, of New Haven
NEW HAVEN — Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend passed away at his home with his wife by his side on July 11, 2020. Ron was born on May 9, 1947, in Middlebury, Vermont to Lawrence and Lucille (Stark) LaFave. On May 27, 1967, he married Viviane Leduc and they raised two children, Lance and Danielle.
Ron was a Vietnam veteran and loved his country; his love of country was frequently evident through his sharing views regarding local, state and federal politics. After serving in Vietnam, Ron was employed by Simmonds Precision (later named BF Goodrich) for 32 years.
Ron loved spending time with his wife at their cottage on Lake Dunmore, often hosting their children and grandchildren and being captain for hours of tubing, water skiing and fishing. Ron loved to celebrate birthdays and holidays with his family as well as watch his kids and grandkids play school sports. He loved freshly baked goods, especially doughnuts. He enjoyed blues rock music, notably Joe Bonamassa and Stevie Ray Vaughan. He was known for his kind and generous nature — always considering others before himself.
He is survived by his wife Viviane; their two children; six grandchildren: Sophie, Elizabeth, Sawyer, Jacqueline, Nick and Mike; his sister Laurie; his brothers Dick and Mark;, sisters-in-law Barbara, Diane and Lilliane, brothers-in-law Patrick and Robert; and nephews Brian and Eric LaFave.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to Barb Gagnon, Dick and Barbara LaFave, Pat and Laurie (LaFave) Strong, and Roger and Mary Jane Quesnel for their love, support and care, allowing Ron to be comfortable and pass with dignity in the manner he wished. We also wish to thank Addison County Home Health for the compassionate assistance they provided.
A memorial service with be held outside at the burial site at 11 a.m. on Friday July 17, at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Middlebury, Vt. The family welcomes those that wish to attend. For your safety and the safety of others, kindly wear a mask and maintain safe social distancing.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Sanderson-Ducharme Funeral Home.
