Vermont’s Presidential Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, March 3, at the same time as the local Town Meeting Election. Early voting has begun already for this election. There will be an Open Studio with Betsy Graziadei at the Lincoln Library on Saturday, Feb. 29, from 10 a.m.-noon. Bring your creativity and have fun making art with others. Supplies will be provided.
It’s a Leap Year and the library is celebrating. Wednesday Sharing with Lucinda Cockrell will be held at the library on Feb. 26, from 1-2:30 p.m. Did you know that there’s a tradition of women proposing to men on Leap Day or Bachelor’s Day? It dates all the way back to Ireland in the 5th century, and has been part of popular culture ever since. Postcards from over 100 years ago, Al Capp’s “Li’l Abner” comic strip from the mid-20th century, Sadie Hawkins Day events and dances where girls ask out the boys — all were part of the Leap Year balancing tradition. Come see the postcards and other Leap Year materials, and hear stories about famous and local folks who participated in such role reversals.
NEW DATE: Due to winter storm conditions, last week’s game of Military Whist was cancelled. The community is invited to join in the fun for the rescheduled game night on Saturday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m. in Burnham Hall.
REMINDER: MAUSD winter break is Monday, Feb. 17, through Friday, Feb. 21.
Until next time … Happy Valentine’s Day!
