Kathryn Menard, 85, of Middlebury
MIDDLEBURY — Kathryn Menard, age 85, passed away peacefully Jan. 23, 2020, succumbing to her battle with pulmonary fibrosis. She was born July 17, 1934, in Ferrisburgh, Vermont to Phlinda and Lawrence Keyes. She married Robert Shackett Menard in December 1953. He preceded her in death in 2002.
Kathryn, affectionately nicknamed Kitty by her favorite boss Francis Smith, loved to crochet (teasingly referred to as ‘tying knots’ by her late husband). She often passed the time creating doilies and reading.
A talented seamstress, she worked for many years at The Van Raalte Company in both the Middlebury and Bristol locations. Later, she employed those same skills assembling Vegimals for Freemountain Toys, also located in Bristol.
Kathryn is survived by her sisters Bernice Gonzales and Laurel Sarkowski; her son Lawrence Menard; her daughters Cheryl Blom and Mary Menard; her three grandchildren James Blom, Jason Blom and Ashley Lemon; her four great-grandchildren Riley, Landon, Lilianne and Lincoln; plus many nieces and nephews. Her son Michael Menard predeceased her in 1995.
