EAST BETHEL — Rachel L. Tenney, 95, of East Bethel, was found dead at her home on Tuesday, Jan. 14, 2020.
She was born Dec. 13, 1924, in West Hartford, the daughter of John H. and Lillian (Butler) Longaway. She attended school in Brookfield and moved to East Bethel from Mt. Holly in 1950. She was married to Raymond F. Tenney in Ludlow in 1950. She and her husband operated a poultry farm for 25 years. She volunteered at Royalton Senior Center for many years, and was a member of East Bethel Community Church. Rachel enjoyed reading and doing puzzles.
Survivors include her sisters Katherine Powers of Cornwall, Margaret Palmer of East Middlebury, Shirley Bougor of Wilton, N.Y., sister-in-law Rachel Longaway of Brandon and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband in 1975, brothers John and Donald Longaway and sister Evelyn Garrow.
