Bristol Police Log: Police step up safety checks
BRISTOL — Between Dec. 2 and 15, Bristol police completed 21 foot patrols and five hours of car patrols in various parts of town, some of which were part of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program. Officers checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School 10 times, conducted eight business checks, processed at least 14 requests for fingerprints, and facilitated the return of one loose dog and one lost wallet.
The department also assisted Vermont State Police, Bristol Rescue Squad and the Addison County Unit for Special Investigations.
In other recent activity, Bristol police:
• On Dec. 2 conducted a welfare check and found no issues.
• On Dec. 3 directed traffic while a town employee worked in the roadway.
• On Dec. 3 began investigating a fraud complaint.
• On Dec. 6 facilitated the exchange of driver information after a minor two-car crash.
• On Dec. 7 received a complaint and determined that it was civil in nature.
• On Dec. 8 received a missing-person report; the person was later located safely.
• On Dec. 8 helped resolve a disagreement between a child and their parent.
• On Dec. 8 responded to an alarm at a local business and determined it to be the result of employee error.
• On Dec. 10 assisted a citizen with a question about an incident involving a juvenile.
• On Dec. 11 removed construction debris from the travel portion of the highway on East Street and Main Street.
• On Dec. 11 responded to a motor vehicle complaint but observed no violations.
• On Dec. 13 helped educate a juvenile about the consequences of falsely reporting an incident.
• On Dec. 13 responded to a report of an unruly person but observed no issues or concerns.
