FERRISBURGH — John W. Evans, 77, a resident of Ferrisburgh, Vt., died on Oct. 21, 2019, at the Helen Porter Rehabilitation Center in Middlebury, Vt.
John was born on May 7, 1942, in Canandaigua, N.Y. and grew up in Buffalo and Orchard Park, N.Y. John attended Canisius College, the University of Detroit Mercy and the University of Cincinnati, where he received a doctorate in Mechanical Engineering. John served in ROTC throughout his undergraduate years and upon graduation served in Viet Nam with the Army Corps of Engineers. He received an honorable discharge having achieved the rank of captain.
Following receipt of his Ph.D., John taught Engineering at Cleveland State University (CSU) in Cleveland, Ohio. Following his time at CSU, John relocated the Mystic, Conn., and worked for many years for ManRoland, a manufacturer of printing presses and related technologies. John and his beloved wife, Marjorie London, built their retirement home on Hawkins Bay in Ferrisburgh, Vt., where they moved in 2016.
John is survived by his wife Marjorie, five sisters (Joan, Judy, Gerry, Grace, and Eileen), and a brother (Bill). John is also survived by 11 nieces and nephews and 15 great-nieces and nephews. John was preceded in death by his mother and father, Geraldine Doyle Evans and John W. Evans, and a sister, Rosemary.
