FERRISBURGH — Michael “Mike” P. Jerry Sr., 64, passed away Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019, at Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury. Mike was born Feb. 28, 1955 in Northfield, Vt., where he was raised until 1965 when the family moved to Ferrisburgh, Vt. He graduated from Vergennes Union High School in 1973.
In the prime of his life Mike was always busy. He spent a lot of time helping friends, being a firefighter for the Ferrisburgh Fire Department, serving the National Guard stationed in Vergennes, playing sports like softball and horseshoes, and being on stock car racer Jamie Aubie’s pit crew.
Mike was exceptional at his work as a heavy equipment operator, being able to dig and prepare an area “within a dime.”
Later on Mike enjoyed occupying his mind and time collecting currency, comic books, and stamps, and completing many paint by numbers cherished by friends and family. He still stayed busy completing various home improvements and building anything he wanted for himself and family. He was a loyal sports fan to his favorite teams, the Vikings and Celtics.
Mike was predeceased by his father Bernard Jerry in 2015. He is survived by his mother Kathryn Drown Jerry of Vergennes, Vt.; his children, Michael Jerry, Jr. (Danielle Many) of Ferrisburgh Vt., Dawn Jerry of Winchester, Kent., and Amanda Jerry of Ferrisburgh Vt.; his grandsons Terrell and Louis; his siblings Marie (Richard) Nosan of Pengilly, Minn., Christopher (Madel) Jerry of Essex Vt., Matthew (Lorri) Jerry of Panton Vt., and Nicolee (Patrick) Torrey of Shoreham Vt., and 5 nieces and 2 nephews.
Mike’s family would like to thank Addison County Home Health and Hospice, and Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center employees for their years of care, compassion, and friendships made.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, at Ferrisburgh Fire Department.  Burial will be held privately at a later date.
