PORT ORANGE, Fla. — Evelyn Carrie Higbee, known by friends and family as Carrie, 95, formerly of New Haven, Vt., passed away July 8, 2019. Born Evelyn Carrie Edele, in New Haven, Conn., she was predeceased by her parents Frederick and May Edele; four sisters, May Brock, Lillian Dyson,  Vida Bristol and Stella Church; and two brothers, Frederick and Alfred. Shortly after WWII ended she met and married Amos Fred Higbee, of Ferrisburgh, Vt. They lived in New Haven until 1970, when they relocated to Daytona Beach, Fla. Her husband of 68 years, Amos, passed away June 27, 2014.
During her lifetime Carrie was a devoted wife and a stay-at-home loving mother, raising five children and taking care of family affairs. She loved to draw, loved her family and friends, loved Vermont and loved cats, one of which she leaves behind —Sam, her feline friend of 17 years. She also enjoyed doing Crossword puzzles, and watching Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune.
She is survived by eldest son, Richard (Suzy), of New Haven, Vt.; daughter, Paulette (Paul) LeClair of Monkton, Vt.; son John (Sue) of Port Orange, Fla.; son Mark (Donna), of Orange City, Fla.; and youngest son, Michael (Stacie), of Deleon Springs, Fla.  She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Jeffrey Higbee, Kristy Boise, Melissa Boutin, Steven LeClair, Rebecca Kilburn, Steffanie Higbee, Samantha Higbee, Grace Higbee and Mark Higbee II. In addition, she is survived by ten great-grandchildren: LeighAnn and Alexa Higbee, Trever and Travis Boutin, Jordan Jacobs, twins Kaleb and Kayla Kilburn, Jace Higbee, Colston and Archer Higbee, and one great-great grandchild, Landon Zakrzewski.
