BRISTOL — Bristol police are asking for information about two recent incidents.
On July 25 police received a report that an American flag and a Vermont state flag had been stolen from a West Street address.
On July 29 police investigated a car break-in on South Street near the bridge.
Anyone with information about either of these incidents is asked to contact Bristol police at 453-2533.
Between July 20 and Aug. 4, Bristol police completed 15 foot patrols and more than 16 hours of car patrols in various parts of town, some of which were part of the Governor’s Highway Safety Program. Officers checked security at Mount Abraham Union High School 14 times, conducted 11 business checks, processed at least 10 requests for fingerprints and verified one vehicle identification number.
The department also assisted Vermont State Police twice and the Bristol Rescue Squad once.
In other recent activity, Bristol police:
• On July 20 responded to a parking complaint on Lincoln Road and issued tickets to violators.
• On July 21 responded to a citizen dispute and determined that no action rose to the level of an offense.
• On July 22 initiated a property watch.
• On July 22 took possession of a cellphone that was found on Main Street. The owner can come by the police station to claim it.
• On July 23 facilitated the return of a stray dog.
• On July 24 facilitated the return of an at-large dog.
• On July 24 served court paperwork to someone.
• On July 24 received a report of harassment but determined that no action had risen to the level of an offense.
• On July 24 conducted a welfare check and determined that the person required no services.
• On July 26 responded to a damage-only two-car crash. A report is forthcoming.
• On July 26 responded to a motor vehicle complaint, located the vehicle and cited the driver for a stop sign violation.
• On July 26 responded to a traffic hazard on Route 116 South, consisting of broken glass from a vehicle, and facilitated its removal.
• On July 27 received a complaint about a dog chained outside and determined that the dog was not in distress, had shade and water, and is not left out for long periods of time.
• On July 28 responded to a damage-only vehicle crash. A report is forthcoming.
• On July 28 checked on a resident’s welfare and provided them a ride to the Porter Medical Center emergency room.
• On July 28 investigated a threatening complaint and found that no action rose to the level of an offense.
• On July 29 opened an investigation regarding a vandalism complaint.
• On July 29 assisted a citizen at the police station.
• On July 30 responded to dog-bite complaint and forwarded the information to the Bristol health officer.
• On July 30 opened an investigation regarding a threatening phone call.
• On July 30 conducted a welfare check and observed no issues or concerns.
• On July 30 responded to reports of a tree on a power line in the area of Pleasant and Maple streets, and notified Green Mountain Power.
• On July 30 responded to an alarm at a local business and determined that it had been caused by a power outage.
• On July 30 responded to a report of a downed power line on Rockydale Road, which was causing a traffic hazard.
• On July 31 responded to a damage-only vehicle crash. A report is forthcoming.
• On Aug. 2 initiated an investigation into a violation of conditions of release.
• On Aug. 3 helped someone open their locked vehicle.
• On Aug. 3 received a parking complaint and issued a warning to the driver.
• On Aug. 3 responded to parking problems on Lincoln Road and issued tickets.
• On Aug. 4 responded to a local business after a dog had been left there by patrons. The dog was taken to the pound, the owner was identified and the dog was returned.
