ADDISON COUNTY — Vermont State Police are looking into a spate of burglaries at Route 7 businesses this past Friday.
Early on the morning of July 26 troopers at the New Haven barracks received information regarding three burglaries at three stores in Ferrisburgh and New Haven. Someone broke into the Dakin Farms and Auto Creek A.C. Sports businesses in Ferrisburgh and into Cyclewise Inc. off Route 7 in New Haven.
State police said that two cash boxes were reported stolen, though they didn’t specify from which businesses.
Anyone with information regarding these burglaries is asked to contact Trooper Josh Gurwicz at the New Haven barracks at 802-388-4919. You can also submit an anonymous tip online at vtips.info.
In other recent activity, state police officers:
• On July 25 at around 7:30 p.m. were dispatched to a motorcycle crash on Monkton Road near Hollow Road in Monkton. Police said William Nottingham, 29, of New Haven was driving a 2017 Kawasaki southbound on the approach of a curve at an estimated 45-50 mph in a 35 mph zone. While turning, Nottingham saw a deer step into the roadway, quickly applied the brakes, fell off the motorcycle and left the roadway. A family member brought Nottingham to Porter Medical Center to treat road burns on both arms.
The Vermont State Police would like to remind motorists to slow down on the approach of curves and to remain attentive to deer and other wildlife that may enter the roadway unexpectedly.
Police issued Nottingham a ticket.
• On July 27 at approximately 9:23 p.m. were notified of a single-vehicle crash into a tree on Basin Harbor Road in Ferrisburgh. Troopers said they administered standard field sobriety tests to driver Jade Reed, 30, of Ferrisburgh, took him into custody and cited him for driving under the influence.
