Lincoln news for Jun. 17

LINCOLN — Congratulations to the Class of 2021! Congratulations to all the LCS graduates, Mt. Abraham High School graduates and all the college graduates from Lincoln. We are all so proud of you. Best wishes on the next part of your journey!

School’s out and that means its time for the library’s summer reading program kickoff event. Come to the library Friday, June 18, between noon and 4 p.m., or Saturday, June 19, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Readers can pick up their summer reading materials, enjoy fun activities, check out new Golden Dome books and find a comfy spot to read. And if that wasn’t enough, how about whipping some cream to enjoy on top of your strawberry shortcake for dessert.

The library will continue to have books for sale over the summer. There are plenty of books, so the selection will continue to change as they rotate in replacements for those that sell. Priced at $1 per hardcover and .50 cents for paperback. There are plenty of great deals, so stop by anytime, even when the library is closed. There is a money box on the wall near the front door for payment. Sit and read for a while on the porch. Enjoy!

FROM TINA SCHARF

Thanks to two-dozen volunteers, basically all the wild chervil growing along Lincoln’s roads has been removed ahead of the mowing so that the seed will not spread. Since we’re just getting going on controlling this very aggressive invasive, it has spread over the last two or three years. But with so many great volunteers on the job, it should improve in the future. Poison parsnip has definitely declined due to everyone’s efforts. Thank you to all who helped!

Until next time … You Are Enough. Do What Makes You Happy. Be The Attitude You Want To Be Around.
