New folk art gallery opens in Brandon
BRANDON — On Open Studio Weekend, May 25 and 26, artist studios and galleries in ever-evolving Brandon will offer well-loved, established, and brand new art venues ready to discover. Artists in Brandon and around the state will be welcoming visitors, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., on both Saturday and Sunday.
With 40 members, the Brandon Artists Guild (The BAG) maintains its touchstone status, showcasing its works of art and promoting new art venues in downtown Brandon. The BAG is also an official Vermont Open Studio Information Center. The BAG’s current show, “The Art of Wood” is an all-member, all-media exhibit.
The Judith Reilly Gallery and studio also keeps broadening and evolving with Judith’s original catawampus fabric art style. Located in her massive 200-year-old home right on the main street, Reilly offers fabric paintings, her artist-designed wool pillows and rugs and many other treasures to explore.
Brandon’s newest art establishment is the Vermont Folk Art Gallery, located right on the village’s newly renovated central park. Three popular artists, Warren Kimble, Robin Kent and Medana Gabbard, have joined to make up the gallery, each bringing their distinct folk art style and vision to create a charming center for viewing their whimsical and thoughtful works while sharing their new studio spaces for the very first time. “We’re happy to have a new Brandon gallery focusing on bringing folk art to life,” says renowned Brandon folk artist, Warren Kimble.
Come for the art and marvel at all that is going on in Brandon as we emerge into a new era.
