Mount St. Joseph tops Otter Valley, 50-42
BRANDON — Visiting Mount St. Joseph on Friday outscored the Otter Valley Union High School boys’ basketball team down the stretch to win, 50-42.
The 15-5 Mounties clinched the top seed in Division II with the win, while OV dropped to 11-9. The Otters still apparently earned a home game as the No. 8 seed, and it looks like they will host No. 9 Fair Haven on Tuesday or Wednesday. The Otters defeated the 11-9 Slaters twice this winter.
A win in that game would mean a quarterfinal rematch with MSJ for OV. The Mounties twice bested the Otters this winter. Pairings were set to be released on Monday morning.
On the previous Friday Logan Montilla scored 17 points to lead MSJ, which pulled away after the Otters rallied to tie the game at 34-34. Pat McKeighan (13) and Dylan Mackie (11) led OV.
