Ripton Community Coffee House takes the Ana Egge Trio on the road to Lincoln
LINCOLN — The Ripton Community Coffee House is going on the road to present the Ana Egge Trio in concert on Saturday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m., at Burnham Hall in Lincoln. The concert is moved from its usual venue due to ongoing repairs at the Ripton Community House.
Pure-voiced, Brooklyn-based Egge is known for her distinctive, eloquent songwriting; her warm, expressive voice; and her impressive guitar playing. In 2018, she released “White Tiger,” her 10th album, which contains a new batch of Egge originals of such singularly articulate and affecting honesty and sensitivity.
Egge will be accompanied by Dave Cole on drums and vocals, and Alec Spiegelman on bass, clarinet, pump organ and vocals.
Why can’t the show be held at the Ripton Community House?
“A burst pipe caused us to move from the Community House to the Ripton Elementary School for the January and February concerts,” explained coffee house executive director Richard Ruane. “That move involved moving both chairs and staging and turning a utilitarian gym into an inviting concert space. We decided to take the show on the road and move to Burnham Hall for the convenience of having staging and chairs already there and to make it easier for our tireless crew of volunteers. We are hoping the audience will move with us because Ana Egge is one of our favorite performers and she is so worth seeing.”
Ruane added that he hopes shows can resume at the normal Ripton location in April.
The doors for Saturday’s concert open at 7 pm.. Refreshments will benefit the Otter Creek Childcare Center. Call ahead for a slot on the open mic list. Admission: $15 generous admission, $10 general admission, $3 for children. For more information call (802) 388-9782.
