Three incumbents plus one more running for Mt. Abe school board
BRISTOL — All four candidates running for three-year terms on the Mount Abraham Unified School District (MAUSD) board are running unopposed.
They are incumbents Andrew Morton of New Haven, Liz Sayre of Bristol and Krista Siringo of Bristol; plus Kristen Blanchette of Monkton, who is new to this board and running to replace Jennifer Stanley. Blanchette would be a newcomer to the board, but before the district unified its governance she served for seven years on the Monkton School Board (three years as chair), on the Addison Northeast Executive Committee and as chair of the ANeSU Negotiation Committee.
MAUSD — which encompasses the towns of Bristol, Lincoln, Monkton, New Haven and Starksboro — needs two more board members, however.
Erin Lathrop of Bristol and Amy Heath of Lincoln have decided not to run again, so the district is hoping write-in candidates will emerge in those two towns.
In the event that those seats remain vacant after Town Meeting Day, selectboards in the respective towns will appoint someone to the board for a one-year term.
Voting for school board candidates will take place in each of the 5 Towns by Australian ballot on Mar. 5.

Editor’s note: This story was edited after its original posting to reflect Kristin Blanchette’s past experience on school boards.
