Boys’ hoop: VUHS nets sole victory
ADDISON COUNTY — The Vergennes Union High School boy’s basketball team picked up a road win late last week, but in other action the Otter Valley and Mount Abraham boys dropped close games.

COMMODORES
On Friday the Commodores improved to 4-11 with a 49-38 victory at Missisquoi. Kevin Jackson led the way with 20 points and 12 rebounds. Josias Salomao chipped in 10 points, four assists and three steals; Nathan Bourgeois scored nine; and Ezekiel Palmer contributed six steals, five boards and four assists.
EAGLES
On Thursday visiting Division I St. Albans held on to edged the Eagles, 55-52. The Eagles cut the Bobwhites’ six-point halftime lead to 40-38 entering the fourth quarter, but BFA’s Taylor Yates scored five late points to help his team hang on. Logan Tobin led BFA with 14, and Yates had 13. BFA improved to 6-8, 5-2 in Lake Division play.
Liam Kelliher put in a game-high 16 points, and Shain Sargent added 11 for Mount Abe, which had a potential game-tying three bounce off the rim at the buzzer. The Eagles dropped to 6-10 heading into Friday.
OTTERS
On Friday visiting Mill River edged OV, 36-31. The Minutemen closed the game on a 12-5 run to erase a 26-24 OV edge. Will Grabowski scored 11 points for 11-5 MRU, which took over first place in Division II. Dylan Mackie (10), Pat McKeighan (nine) and Tyler Rowe (eight) led the Otters in scoring. OV (10-7) dropped to No. 8 in D-II.
