Boys’ hockey splits games
MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School boys’ hockey team split a pair of Division I games with Stowe late last week. At 8-6-2 the Tigers remain in fourth place in D-I.
On Friday the Tigers topped the visiting Raiders, 3-1. Devon Kearns, with assists from Kolby Farnsworth and Tucker Stearns, gave them the lead 30 seconds into the game. Second-period goals by Hale Hescock, from Daniel Hodsden, and Andy Giorgio, from Ben Turner, made it 3-0. Stowe’s Atticus Eiden scored in the third period. Tiger goalie Zeke Hooper made 25 saves, and Stowe’s Jack Seivwright stopped 20 shots.
On Saturday host Stowe improved to 11-4-2 by defeating the Tigers, 4-2, thanks to a pair of third-period goals by Max Carr and Sam Schoepke. Farnsworth scored twice for MUHS, both with assists from Kearns, and Hooper stopped 36 shots. Seivwright made 14 saves for Stowe.
