Sorting recycling workshop on Thursday

ADDISON COUNTY — The Addison County Solid Waste Management District will offer a workshop on “Sorting Out Plastic Bag and Food Recycling: New Options” on Thursday, Jan. 24, from 7-8 p.m., at the Weybridge Elementary School.
When 2020 rolls in, under a year from now, Vermonters will have to adjust their concept of what is trash. All food scraps will need to be kept out of the trash can and put instead into a composting facility. Everyone knows that plastic bags and cling film have overtaken our landfills, our waters and our homes, and many in Addison County are advocating a ban on them.
The workshop will address new options for recycling plastic bags and films and explain Act 148 and options for food scraps recycling. Participants are encouraged to bring questions about recycling and items they are not sure can be recycled.
The workshop is free and open to the public. Questions can be directed to Fran Putnam at  388-1644.
