MUHS girls’ hockey team tops Wasps, falls to BFA

MIDDLEBURY — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ hockey team split two recent games and stands at 2-2 headed into the Tigers’ annual holiday tournament this coming weekend.
On Dec. 19 the Tigers blanked visiting Division II rival Woodstock, 2-0, getting an unassisted goal from Aleta Mathers and a strike from Carlisle Brush set up by Audrey Tembreull. Tiger goalie Lydia Deppman stopped 14 shots for the shutout, and Wasp goalie Ava Dodson made 25 saves.
On Saturday visiting D-I BFA-St. Albans defeated MUHS, 6-1. Mathers, assisted by Taylor Moulton, gave the Tigers the early lead, but Lizzie Hill’s two goals led the Comets as they took charge.
Deppman made 24 saves for the Tigers, and BFA Goalie Maddie Hungerford made seven saves.
