Porter’s cardiology department to grow

MIDDLEBURY — Indeed, 2019 will bring great change to Porter Medical Center’s cardiology department.
In addition to inaugurating a new cardiac rehabilitation center next spring, the Middlebury medical center is welcoming some new faces to its Porter Cardiology practice.
Joining Dr. Gavin Noble in the coming weeks will be:
•  Cardiologist Dr. Mark Burke, expected to join the practice next month.
•  Dr. Matt Watkins, a physician and educator at UVM Medical Center, who will be on hand two days per week.
•  Physicians Assistant Katie Owens.
These changes follow the recent retirement of Porter Cardiology’s Dr. Daniel Raabe Jr.
“Shortly we will have three physicians — not everyone full-time — and one PA,” Noble said. “We’re seeing really nice (patient) volumes and have enough demand that we’ll be able to see where the system needs to step up to the next level.”
Noble is already travelling to Brandon one day per week to see patients there. He said he’ll start seeing patients in Bristol on a part-time basis beginning in February or March.
