In boys’ basketball, Minutemen pull away from Eagles
NORTH CLARENDON — Host Mill River pulled away in the fourth quarter to defeat the Mount Abraham Union High School boys’ basketball team on Monday, 69-58, in the season opener for both teams.
The Minutemen took a 33-27 halftime lead, but the Eagles outscored them by 19-13 in the third period to knot the score at 46-46 entering the fourth quarter.
In the final period MRU’s Aiden Botti scored 14 of his game-high 18 points, including three three-pointers and five free throws, to help the Minutemen put the game away. Will Grabowski added 15 for the Minutemen.
Liam Kelliher led the Eagles with 16, followed by Logan Rodriguez (15) and Shain Sargent (11).
The Eagles host Missisquoi at 7 p.m. on Thursday and will visit Winooski on Monday.
