At Quarry Hill School in Middlebury, November is all about Stone Soup. Three- and 4-year-olds spend the weeks leading up to Thanksgiving immersing themselves in the classic tale and preparing for a feast. They chop vegetables, make bread, churn butter, decorate stones and write menus and invitations. It all culminates in a big party — with songs and soup, of course — at school with their families.
