WALTHAM — A 25-year-old Vergennes man was killed this past Friday night in a car crash off Green Street in Waltham.
Casey “CJ” Poquette, the only occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at Porter Hospital shortly after the crash, which took place a little after 9 p.m.
Vermont State Police were called to the crash off Green Street near Schoolhouse Road in Waltham at about 9:18 p.m. on Oct. 26. Troopers report that Poquette was driving a 2003 Audi A4 northbound on Green Street when the car traveled off the east side of the roadway and struck two utility poles and a barn. The car was a total loss.
Police said their initial investigation showed that speed was likely a factor in this collision. They report that Poquette was not wearing a seatbelt.
This crash is still under investigation and anyone with information is asked to call state police at (802)-388-4919; or submit a tip anonymously at vsp.vermont.gov/tipsubmit.
