ADDISON COUNTY — As the high school girls’ soccer regular season concluded last week Vergennes and Mount Abraham picked up a key victories, Otter Valley split two games, and Middlebury came up short.
The Vermont Principals’ Association was set to announce playoff pairings on Monday morning. First-round games are set for Tuesday or Wednesday.
COMMODORES
On Friday the Commodores blanked winless Missisquoi, 5-0, apparently giving VUHS the No. 6 seed in Division III with a 6-5-2 record.
Ciara McClay and Maria Malaney each notched two goals and an assist to pace VUHS at MVU. Emily Rooney scored the other goal and also picked up an assist. Sydney Weber and Ema Gernander also contributed assists.
The Commodores are unofficially set to host No. 11 Windsor (7-7) on Wednesday, with Green Mountain Union (13-1) probably up next.
EAGLES
The Eagles on Friday knocked off visiting D-I Rutland, 2-1, to unofficially pin down the No. 6 seed in D-II with a 7-5-2 mark. The win over the Raiders was Mount Abe’s fourth straight. Mae Peterson set up Addy Harris’s first-half goal and then scored to snap a 1-1 tie in the second half. Eagle goalie Justice Green made three saves, while the Raiders’ Elise Magro stopped five shots.
Mount Abe will apparently host Mill River (4-9-1) in the first round, with a potential quarterfinal vs. Lake Division rival Rice, the No. 3 seed, looming.
OTTERS
On Wednesday Green Mountain Union, the No. 3 team in D-III, edged OV, 2-1. GMU standout Page Carl scored twice, including the opening goal on a penalty kick. OV’s Olivia White scored late from long range to spoil the Chieftains’ shutout bid. Otter sophomore forward Julia Eastman injured her ankle in the first half, and her playoff status is uncertain.
On Saturday White scored three times as OV completed a 7-7 season with a 3-1 victory at Twin Valley.  
The Otters look like they will visit No. 4 Peoples (10-3-1) in the first round.
TIGERS
On Friday host Milton improved to 12-2 by blanking the Tigers, 8-0. MUHS finished at 3-11 and looked to receive the No. 13 seed in D-I. Burr & Burton (8-4-1) appears to be the Tigers’ first-round foe.
