Anne Severy honored by Vt. music educators

MIDDLEBURY — Middlebury Union High School’s Music teacher Anne Severy has been teaching for 38 years, 33 of which have been at MUHS.
Severy was recognized for the outstanding work she has done with music students when the Vermont Music Educator’s association inducted her in to the VMEA Hall of Fame as the 2018 Vermont Music Educator of the Year at its annual conference last week at Castleton University.
Severy teaches Concert/Marching band, Jazz Ensemble, Music Theory and Music History. Along with a steady stream of concerts and parades that the community has enjoyed for years, her students have consistently placed in District, All-State, Eastern and National festivals. The Jazz ensemble has placed first in the VTAJE Jazz festival 10 times in the past eleven years. The ensemble also placed first in its division at the Berklee College of Music Jazz Festival in 2017.
A trophy representing the past 20 years of the recipients of the VMEA Hall of Fame is on display for the school year at MUHS.
