A documentary about artist Sabra Field will show at Contois Auditorium in Burlington as part of the Architecture and Design Film Series. This series hosts free Wednesday screenings once a month.
On Wednesday, Oct. 17, “Sabra: The Life and Work of Printmaker Sabra Field” takes the screen. This documentary, directed by Bill Phillips, explores the life and career of Vermont-based printmaker Sabra Field. The film highlights a body of work spanning more than five decades from her most commonly circulated images which celebrated American pastoral motifs in New England to her lesser known but equally important explorations of figurative mythology, Italian tableaux, and political inquiry. Filmmaker and personal friend Phillips, has created an insightful portrait of the Field’s long and productive life, featuring interviews that reflect on how travel, personal tragedy and life in the Green Mountain State have impacted the development of her work over the years.
Field and Phillips will be at the Wednesday event for a post-screening discussion. Food and a cash bar opens at 6 p.m.; the film starts at 6:30. Admission is free. Learn more about the series at ADfilmseries.org.
