Ace, Hawaii event headline golf play

MIDDLEBURY — A hole-in-one and the Hawaiian Open highlighted recent action at the Ralph Myhre Golf Course.
Steve Goodman nailed the ace on Saturday, Sept. 4, sinking his tee shot on Hole No. 4 with a 7 wood.
The recent Hawaiian Open included awards for Best Dressed Couple (the Whittemores), Best Dressed Individual (Jesse Wing), and Best Cart (the Illicks).
On the course, the foursome of John Myhre, Tucker Myhre, Jeff Maier and Hogan Beazley edged out the quartet of Wing, Jimmy Pratt, Josh Newton and Steve Poplawski for first place.
They were followed by: Third-place team of Dave Holbrook, Patrick Fallon, Derek Quenneville and Larry Provencher; fourth-place team of Jerry Greeno, Dave Kellogg, Jim Pratt and Mike Coombs; fifth-place team of Bernie Andrews, Liz Andrews, Joanie Guertin and James Guertin; and, in sixth, Trevor Emilo, Willy Varno, Andy Myhre and Nick Leach.
In regular weekly action the foursome of Anders Fogel, Bo Cramer, Sean Cleary and James Walker prevailed in the Wednesday Men’s Scramble on Aug. 1, with Bert Phinney, Ric Wheeler, Josh Newton and Dale White taking second.
In Bill Davidson Thursday Men’s Golf on Aug. 2, the threesome of Mike Davis, Dayton Wakefield and Gary Starr finished first, with Carsen Sanchez, Nick Causton and Deem Schoenfeld in second. Davis earned the day’s low net score.
On Aug. 3, the Friday Mixer saw a tie for first place between the teams of Sara Cotroneo, Joe Cotroneo, Deb Hadeka and James Hadeka, and Liz Andrews, Bernie Andrews, Beth Illick and John Illick.
Course officials also want to announce a delay in green aeration. Work was postponed to Wednesday morning, weather permitting, and was expected to last until Friday. Work on Thursday, if on schedule, will be focused on the back nine, and additional wrap-up efforts will be completed on Friday as needed, officials said.
The course is offering reduced greens fees during the work: 18 holes for $26 and nine holes for $16.
