Lincoln news for July 19

LINCOLN — A special “Libraries ROCK! What Rocks More Than Drums?” program will be held at Holley Hall in Bristol on Wednesday, July 25, from 2-3 p.m. Saragail Benjamin, published author, songwriter and master drum circle facilitator, brings hundreds of drums to libraries across Vermont. Everyone plays percussion together in this 100 percent interactive participatory program. Saragail gets everyone playing together, then the exploring begins. Can we drum a story? Dance it? Sing it? Absolutely! Creative, innovative fun for all ages. No prior musical experience required.
The final donation drop-off for the Three Day Stampede will be at the recreation field in Bristol on Wednesday, July 25, from 4-7 p.m. The Stampede begins on Friday, July 27, and runs through Sunday, July 29.
Last week, Grace Freeman directed a children’s theatre arts camp at the library. During this weeklong camp, participants learned about many aspects of the theatre including creating and following a story arc, stage presence, improvisation, singing and dancing. The camp goers wrote their own show and presented it Friday night at Burnham Hall. What amazing, talented kids we have in our community. Thank you, Grace for an amazingly fun week. Jacob had a wonderful time!
The Lincoln Library will host “You Come Too: Robert Frost Summer Poems” on Thursday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m. Join Peter Gilbert, executive director of the Vermont Humanities Council and Robert Frost’s executor, for a look at several of Frost’s poems related to summer, including “Mowing,” “The Tuft of Flowers” and “The Silken Tent.”
SAVE THE DATE
The annual meeting of the Lincoln Historical Society will be at 1 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19, at the town office. Plan to attend and discover past and future happenings in Lincoln.
REMINDER
The selectboard meeting for Tuesday, July 17, has been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 24.
Until next time … Do What Makes You Happy. Love As Long As You Live. Laugh As Much As You Breathe.
