See artists at work on Open Studio Weekend

Want to see the signs of a creative mind? Go visit an artist in their studio this weekend. Vermont Crafts Council is sponsoring its 26th annual Open Studio Weekend, which will allow you to visit more than 220 artists at 179 sites across Vermont. Whew — there are a dozen in Addison County and three more in Brandon if you want to limit yourself to ones closer to home. On Saturday and Sunday, May 26 & 27, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m., look for bright yellow “Open Studio” signs along Vermont’s roads to guide you to these artists’ places of work. There is a regional open studio information center  at Art on Main, 25 Main St., Bristol. Further south, maps and information can be found at the Brandon Artists Guild at 7 Center St. in Brandon.

Open Studio Weekend is a statewide celebration of the visual arts and creative process, offering a unique opportunity for visitors to meet a wide variety of local artists and craftspeople in their studios, and purchase high-quality, hand-made artwork. The self-guided Open Studio tour features the work of glassblowers, jewelers, printmakers, potters, furniture makers, weavers, ironworkers, painters, sculptors, quilt makers and wood carvers. Many participating galleries will host gallery talks and feature special exhibits in conjunction with this event.
