MUHS girls’ tennis earns first win
BARTON — The Middlebury Union High School girls’ tennis team split two recent matches, including picking up the Tigers’ first win of the season on this past Friday, 6-1, at Lake Region. MUHS (1-9) also lost on Monday, 7-0, to host Spaulding.
On Friday at Lake Region the Tigers claimed four of five singles matches and won both doubles contests by forfeit.
• At No. 1 singles, Sierra Barnicle (MUHS) defeated Meghan Gervais, 6-1, 6-4.
• At No. 2 singles, Elizabeth Bright (MUHS) defeated Melanie Joubert, 6-2, 6-2.
• At No. 3 singles, Caelyn Gonzalez defeated Anna Scharstein (MUHS), 6-4, 6-7, 1-0.
• At No. 4 singles, Anika Shook-Kemp (MUHS) defeated Emma Locke, 6-4, 6-2.
• At No. 5 singles, Isadora Luksch (MUHS) defeated Mary Lovegrove, 6-4, 7-6.
On Monday, the Tigers forfeited two singles matches and No. 2 doubles in the loss to Spaulding (5-3).
